WPT Gold: Sweepstakes Poker by World Poker Tour
WPT Gold: The World Poker Tour’s Sweepstakes Poker Platform
WPT Gold—more formally known as ClubWPT Gold—is the World Poker Tour’s sweepstakes-based online poker platform designed primarily for players in the United States. It brings the recognizable WPT brand to casual and competitive poker fans without requiring them to play on a traditional real-money poker site.
What WPT Gold Is
ClubWPT Gold operates on a sweepstakes model rather than as a licensed real-money poker room. Players can join poker games and tournaments, compete for prizes, and, depending on eligibility and platform rules, redeem certain winnings for cash prizes or seats at live WPT events.
The platform is commonly shortened to “WPT Gold” or “WPT poker Gold.” It entered beta in late 2024 and became available to U.S. players in early 2025, marking an expansion of the World Poker Tour’s online presence.
How It Differs From WPT Global
WPT Gold should not be confused with WPT Global, the World Poker Tour’s international real-money online poker room. WPT Global is available in more than 135 countries, while ClubWPT Gold is positioned as a training and play platform tailored to North American players.
| Platform | Model | Primary audience |
|---|---|---|
| ClubWPT Gold | Sweepstakes poker | U.S. and select North American players |
| WPT Global | Real-money online poker | International players in eligible markets |
Games and Tournaments
WPT Gold offers a familiar online-poker lineup, including ring games, multi-table tournaments, Sit & Gos, and Jackpot Sit & Gos. Rather than competing directly for cash at the table, players use the platform’s sweepstakes currency system while pursuing redeemable prizes.
The site also runs recurring tournament schedules, satellites, and larger festival-style series. These events can offer prize pools, guarantees, and opportunities to compete for live WPT seats.
Availability and Eligibility
Availability varies by state and has changed since launch. Some states are excluded from access, with reported exclusions including Arizona, Washington, New Jersey, Louisiana, Connecticut, Michigan, Montana, Nevada, and Tennessee.
Players should always confirm eligibility based on their current location and review the platform’s latest terms before signing up. Sweepstakes rules, redemption policies, and state restrictions can differ significantly.
Why It Matters
WPT Gold gives the World Poker Tour a way to reach poker players in markets where conventional online real-money poker is limited or unavailable. For fans, it offers branded tournaments, a path toward live-event opportunities, and a lower-friction way to experience competitive poker online.
As the online poker landscape evolves, WPT Gold represents the WPT’s effort to blend its live-tournament prestige with accessible digital play—while keeping its international real-money offering separate through WPT Global.
